Masculinity

Here's more food for thought from our buddy Trent. -- Dan

Fear freezes men. Fear keeps us in isolation. The lie we propagate is invulnerability.
Stand on your own two feet…pull yourself up by your bootstraps…depend on no one.

Vulnerability tells us we are not alone.

Vulnerability makes us strong.

The typical man today is isolated and lonely. Other men are viewed as adversaries and this prevents friendships. We know that we were created for more, but we don't want to be known, we don't want to be vulnerable.

We hide.

We hide in plain sight. We keep ourselves so busy with activities and acquaintances that we rarely know anybody well. As a consequence, how well can we really know ourselves?

God's plan is different. Jesus brings us to right relationship with God and provides the template for right relationship with men. Iron sharpens iron. Friendships are fostered through adversity.

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”  Proverbs 18-24

Thank you Jesus for my friendships.
